Increasing Effective Link Bandwidth by Supressing Replicated Data
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the Internet today, transfer rates are often limited by the bandwidth of a bottleneck link rather than the computing power available at the ends of the links. To address this problem, we have utilized inexpensive commodity hardware to design a novel link layer caching and compression scheme that reduces bandwidth consumption. Our scheme is motivated by the prevalence of repeated transfers of the same information, as may occur due to HTTP, FTP, and DNS tra c. Unlike existing link compression schemes, it is able to detect and use the long-range correlation of repeated transfers. It also complements applicationlevel systems that reduce bandwidth usage, e.g., Web caches, by providing additional protection at a lower level, as well as an alternative in situations where application-level cache deployment is not practical

Using a Fuzzy Rule-based Algorithm to Improve Routing in MPLS Networks
Today, the use of wireless and intelligent networks are widely used in many fields such as information technology and networking. There are several types of these networks that MPLS networks are one of these types. However, in MPLS networks there are issues and problems in the design and implementation discussion, for example security, throughput, losses, power consumption and so on. Basically,...
متن کاملAnalysis of a Real-Time Network using Statistical Network Calculus with Effective Bandwidth and Effective Capacity
The Internet traffic consists of an increasing amount of soft real-time flows, which can tolerate very small delay variation and losses. Allowing probabilistic Quality of Service (QoS) violation for these flows can greatly help to improve resource utilization. However, this improvement depends on the statistical properties of competing independent flows and the resources (capacity and buffer) o...
متن کاملIncreasing performance in Data grid by a new replica replacement algorithm
Data Grid provides sharing services for very large data around the world. Data replication is one of the most effective approaches to reduce access latency and response time. In addition to the benefits, replication has costs such as storage and bandwidth consumption, especially when storage space is low and limited. Therefore, the data replacement should be done wisely. In this p...
متن کاملMathematical consideration of Phase-Matching bandwidth, effective nonlinear coefficient and the walk-off effect for LiGa(SexS1-x)2 nonlinear crystals by using Genetic algorithm
In this paper the Phase-Matching bandwidth, effective nonlinear coefficient and the walk-off angle within the effective bandwidth of the LiGa(SexS1-x)2 biaxial nonlinear crystals are calculated using the Genetic algorithm (GA). This calculation is held for all tree principle XY, YZ and XZ planes individually. The results are shown the accuracy of the applied algorithm is quite qualified.
متن کاملA study on a receiver-based management scheme of access link resources for QoS-controllable TCP connections
Although the bandwidth of access networks is rapidly increasing with the latest techniques such as DSL and FTTH, the access link bandwidth remains a bottleneck, especially when users activate multiple network applications simultaneously. Furthermore, since the throughput of a standard TCP connection is dependent on various network parameters, including round-trip time and packet loss ratio, the...
